The Internet Map – Are You On It?

Here is an interesting visualisation of the Internet using the 350,000 largest sites on the web at the time of its release. Alexa was the data source, at the conclusion of 2011 so it is a little dated, but of interest nevertheless.

Each colour on the map relates to the country of origin: light blue for America, dark blue for Germany, red for Russia, yellow for China etc.

If you type a country into the search box on the site you will get a more in-depth view.

Then it is a simply a matter of clicking on any site to reveal its current ranking in Alexa.
