About the Role

We are looking for an experienced SAP R2RFI Solution Architect to lead SAP S/4HANA solution architecture for a large-scale automotive manufacturing programme in Japan.

The role will focus on the Japan deployment and global template enhancements, with responsibility for solution architecture, template governance, localisation design, integrated architecture and compliance with Japanese statutory requirements.

The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of SAP experience, strong expertise in SAP Financial Accounting (FI), hands-on SAP S/4HANA implementation and support experience, and a strong understanding of Japan's tax and accounting procedures. Native Japanese and business-level English proficiency are required.

Role Objectives

• Lead SAP S/4HANA deployment and global template enhancements for large-scale manufacturing programmes in Japan.
• Drive solution architecture, template governance and localisation design.
• Provide clear architectural direction and promote build implementation through the development team.
• Ensure solutions align with global templates while meeting Japanese business and statutory requirements.

Core Specialties

The successful candidate should have:

• End-to-end SAP S/4HANA solution architecture experience.
• Strong SAP S/4HANA implementation and support project experience.
• Strong configuration and support experience across SAP Financial Accounting (FI), including:
  • FI-GL – General Ledger Accounting
  • FI-AP – Accounts Payable
  • FI-AR – Accounts Receivable
  • FI-AA – Asset Accounting
• Strong understanding of Japan's tax and accounting procedures.
• Experience with financial closing, statutory reporting and financial reporting.
• Experience ensuring consistency and accuracy of data across integrated SAP modules.
• Strong architectural leadership across the core value stream.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead Solution Discovery, Standard Conformity Workshops and Architecture Design for Japanese expansion.
• Act as the design authority, approving solution deviations and ensuring compliance with governance requirements.
• Define and manage integrated architectures across SAP and non-SAP systems, including MES, PMC, legacy systems and third-party tools.
• Provide clear direction for solutions and promote build implementation.
• Liaise with Japanese business stakeholders, global process owners and IT leadership.
• Lead roll-out programmes across Blueprint, Build, Test, Cut-Over and Go-Live stages.
• Ensure compliance with Japanese business processes, statutory requirements, auditing requirements and control requirements.
• Support governance and localisation requirements for the Japan deployment and global template enhancements.

Industry Experience

Essential

• Large-scale manufacturing or automotive industry experience.

Additional Strengths

• Discrete manufacturing.
• Supply chain and production planning.
• Quality, logistics and cost management.
• Japanese manufacturing standards and practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with multi-country deployment using a single SAP S/4HANA global template.
• Experience working with Japan's OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.
• SAP S/4HANA certification.

Language Requirements

• Native-level Japanese.
• Business-level English.

Project Overview

The role involves supporting a large-scale automotive manufacturing programme in Japan, leading SAP S/4HANA solution architecture, Japan deployment and global template enhancements.
