Role Overview

Web Synergies is seeking an experienced Bilingual Power BI Technical Consultant to support a global pharmaceutical client. This role involves designing, developing and maintaining enterprise-grade Power BI reports and dashboards while working closely with business stakeholders in Japan and the customer's Digital Transformation (DX) Team in the UK.

The successful candidate will translate reporting requirements into scalable business intelligence solutions, develop robust data models, optimise report performance and contribute to the successful delivery of high-quality analytics solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Power BI Report and Dashboard Development

• Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain interactive Power BI reports, dashboards, datasets and workspaces.
• Translate business and technical requirements into effective data models, report layouts, visualisations, KPIs and analytical views.
• Develop DAX measures, calculated columns and reusable metrics to support business reporting.
• Ensure reports are accurate, user-friendly, visually effective and aligned with stakeholder expectations.

Data Modelling, Integration and Data Quality

• Connect Power BI to enterprise data sources using Power Query (M) and SQL.
• Develop and optimise data models, relationships, hierarchies, measures and calculated fields.
• Validate data quality, consistency, completeness and accuracy before report releases.
• Support scheduled data refreshes, gateway configuration and troubleshooting of refresh failures.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Delivery

• Collaborate with the UK-based Customer DX Team and stakeholders in Japan to gather requirements and validate deliverables.
• Participate in requirement workshops, solution design reviews, demonstrations, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and project status meetings.
• Prepare technical documentation, report specifications, data mapping documentation and knowledge transfer materials.
• Recommend Power BI best practices, reporting governance standards and performance optimisation techniques.

Support, Maintenance and Optimisation

• Troubleshoot report performance issues, DAX calculations, visualisation errors and data discrepancies.
• Optimise Power BI datasets, reports, dashboards, DAX expressions and data models.
• Support enhancements, production incidents, change requests and ongoing maintenance activities.
• Maintain high standards for documentation, testing, access control and release readiness.

Mandatory Skills and Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Power BI development, dashboard development, business intelligence reporting or analytics solution delivery.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
• Strong expertise in DAX, Power Query (M), data modelling, data transformation and report optimisation.
• Good SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases and enterprise data sources.
• Experience developing operational dashboards, KPI dashboards, management reports and executive analytics.
• Strong understanding of the complete BI development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment and support.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with distributed teams across Japan and the UK.
• Business-level communication skills in both Japanese and English.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Knowledge of pharmaceutical, life sciences or pharmaceutical commercial business processes.
• Experience working with pharmaceutical commercial datasets, sales analytics, marketing analytics or customer engagement analytics.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Fabric Lakehouse, OneLake, Data Factory Pipelines, Data Warehouse, Direct Lake Mode and Power BI integration.
• Experience with Power BI governance, deployment pipelines, Row-Level Security (RLS), workspace administration and report access management.
• Microsoft certifications such as PL-300: Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst or relevant Microsoft Azure or Microsoft Fabric certifications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Analytics, Business Analytics or a related discipline.
• Microsoft certifications in Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Azure Data or Microsoft Power Platform are preferred but not mandatory.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a bilingual Power BI professional with strong experience in report development, data modelling, DAX and enterprise analytics. Experience within the pharmaceutical or life sciences sector will be considered an advantage.
